Tupou chasing Trinity’s first win
Wakefield three-quarter Bill Tupou is keen to get Trinity’s first win in Super League in 2017 on the board, when his team travel to face St Helens on Friday evening.
Trinity lost at home to Hull FC in their season opener, and suffered another defeat on the road at Huddersfield last week.
But Tupou thinks that the team is improving, and the senior players are helping the younger players as they look to secure that first victory.
“That’s the plan. It’ll be tough, but we’ve got the squad to do it,” Tupou told Wakefield’s pre-match press conference.
“We’ve got a few new players in the squad. It’s still the early rounds, we’re still getting to know everyone.
“We’ve got a long way to go in the season.
“Having the senior blokes there telling you what to do, especialy to the young guys, and encouraging them to play smart.
“They help us through the game.”
Tupou feels that controlling the middle unit will be key to determining the game’s outcome.
“They’re very strong, especially in the middle,” he said.
“They’ve got their big men. we’ve got to control their middles, slow it down and play at our speed.
“They’re looking to get the win also.”
