Amor: Poor starts becoming a regular theme

St Helens prop Kyle Amor has criticised the start his side made against Wakefield and pointed to a similar problem last week against Leigh.

The Saints lost their second game in a row as Wakefield claimed a 16-12 victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night.

“It’s the second week in a row where we’ve started too ordinary,” Amor told Love Rugby Leagye.

“After going 10-0 down in next to no time, we got a try and clawed it back but for one reason or another it’s just not good enough.”

The hosts were the better team after the first 30 minutes, according to Amor.

“I thought after that half an hour period we were the better side throughout,” he said

“In my opinion we came up with a lot considering what the conditions were like.”

The 29-year old said the performance needs to be a lot better if they are to get anything out of their match next week.

Keiron Cunningham’s men are away to 2016 Challenge Cup winners Hull FC, followed by a trip to Catalans before entertaining Warrington in their next home match.

“We need to be ten times better than how we started,” he said.

“We’ve got three really tough fixtures coming up but we’ll focus on next week first and that’s a trip away to Hull who are a side that are playing well at the minute.

“Coming here and taking two points isn’t really acceptable for our standards and that’s no disrespect to Wakefield.

“We set ourselves a goal of this being a fortress and tonight wasn’t good enough.”
