TV details confirmed for Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos trips to Catalans Dragons
Sky Sports have confirmed they will show Catalans Dragons’ home games against Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos from Perpignan in August and September.
The Dragons are currently top of the Super League table and will be aiming to lift the League Leaders’ Shield for the second time in three seasons.
Wigan will travel to the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Round 23 of Super League on Saturday, August 26 (6pm UK, 7pm France).
The game has the potential to be a blockbuster, with Catalans currently league leaders and Wigan in third.
And then three weeks later in Round 26 (5pm UK, 6pm France), there will be another Saturday evening clash in front of the Sky Sports cameras as Leeds head to the south of France.
The eighth-placed Rhinos will be hoping for a similar story to last year, where they made a late surge for the play-offs before eventually reaching the Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Sky Sports have already broadcast two Catalans home games this season – against Warrington on Easter Monday and St Helens in May, and have already confirmed coverage of the return match against champions Saints at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Thursday, July 13.
Meanwhile, the Dragons’ away match at Hull this Saturday (July 1, 3pm) will also be available for Our League Pay Per View streaming.
Catalans Dragons boss reflects on win over Leigh Leopards
Steve McNamara’s side beat Leigh 38-30 in Perpignan on Saturday night to go two points clear of Warrington at the top of the table.
Speaking after the game, McNamara said: “It was a really difficult game and I knew it would be before we started. We’re top and Leigh are third so it was always going to be good game, but for me it was a crazy match.
“It was a proud night for the Catalans, we had a big occasion today celebrating their culture, and we started the game really well which added to the atmosphere.
“We finished well too, but in the middle we lost the game. When they scored and went ahead with 15 minutes to go we were under pressure.
“I liked our start and our end but not the middle. We showed great tenacity after nearly throwing the game away to go on and win it.
“It was a great reality check for us. Lots of things have been going well for us in the last few weeks, we go to Magic and everyone talks about our performance then we beat Hull KR here and it’s all going well.
“Today has given a real focus and something tangible to work on because our defence was just not acceptable for a team in the position we are in the competition.
“We won’t stay there if we continue to defend like that and it’s something we have to focus on right away.”
