Milford could play for Samoa against England

Brisbane Broncos full back Anthony Milford has confirmed that he is available for Samoa for the mid-season Test Match with England.

The game is scheduled for May 6 at Campbelltown Stadium, and Milford, who has been tipped for Kangaroo honours too, will put his hand up for Samoa, if Australia do not pick him.

“For now, I’m available and whatever happens, happens,” Milford told the Courier Mail.

“It would (be good to play against England) and to put the blue jersey of Samoa back on would be pretty cool and pretty surreal.”

The new international regulations mean that players can be eligible for a Tier One country, like Australia, but still also retain their eligibility for a Tier Two nation, like Samoa.

Milford feels that the new regulations will help boost international rugby league.

“It’s good for the sport that players who miss out on the Kiwi or Aussie side can play for their (heritage) nation,” he said.

“It makes the comp a lot harder. I’m looking forward to it.’’
