Hudgell issues rallying call to fans

Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell is calling on supporters to help the club attract a Championship record crowd to next week’s Good Friday clash against Featherstone Rovers.

The traditional Easter fixture will see the table-topping Robins take on a Featherstone team that is currently joint-second on the ladder and a bumper crowd is expected at KCOM Craven Park for the match on Friday, 14th April (kick-off 300pm).

A number of Red and Whites supporters have already purchased tickets for the clash in what has been a strong start to ticket sales so far, with Blocks D-F in the Colin Hutton Stand now approaching a sell-out.

There’s also limited availability for home fans in the Roger Millward Stand and, with Featherstone expected to bring a large contingent of away supporters, Hudgell is aiming to set a new record attendance for the league beating the crowd of 9,181 which watched Bradford Bulls face Leigh Centurions in 2015.

He said: “The Easter weekend is a hugely traditional part of the rugby league calendar and we’d love nothing more than to celebrate the occasion with a new record next week.

“Tim Sheens has got the team playing some entertaining rugby and we know that Featherstone also have an attacking style, so it’s set up to be a really exciting game.

“Having a big crowd in the stands at KCOM Craven Park would really add to the occasion and it would be a big statement of intent from both clubs to set a new benchmark.

“Our attendances have been really healthy so far this season and we came close to beating the existing record at our opener against Bradford with only a short amount of time to work with.

“Ticket sales for next Friday have been very encouraging so far and the aim now is to maintain that momentum over the next week.

“We’d urge all our supporters to play their part where possible, make sure they are here on Good Friday and encourage their friends and family to come along as well.”
