Watson: Other teams wary of Salford
Salford boss Ian Watson believes the Red Devils are becoming a target for other teams after they moved up to third in the Super League table with victory over Widnes on Sunday.
Ben Murdoch-Masila bagged a couple of tries as Salford comfortably saw off Widnes to stay in touch with Castleford and Hull at the top of the table.
“We spoke before the game saying this fixture would test our squad, but it was also a chance for us to show what we are about,” said Watson.
“There were a few people writing us off with the changes we had to make to the team. But the young boys have come in, stood up and showed their value to the squad.
“We have to be better in our preparation going forward because other teams are seeing us differently because we are now in the top four.
“We started getting loose in our defence in the second half and Widnes got on the front foot but we got that control back.”
