Chase in trouble again?
Castleford have issued a statement saying they are investigating an alleged incident involving Rangi Chase at Thursday’s Challenge Cup tie between Featherstone and Halifax.
Fans at the game took to social media claiming Chase was involved in an altercation at the LD Nutrition Stadium and was subsequently ejected from the ground.
A statement on Castleford’s official website said: “Castleford Tigers are aware of an incident that occurred last night in Featherstone.
“The club is investigating the incident and will make no further comment at this time.”
Chase was the subject of an internal investigation into another alleged incident earlier this year, although he eventually returned to the squad after a month out.
The 31-year-old played for England in the 2013 World Cup after switching his allegiance from New Zealand but was dropped on the eve of the semi-final against the Kiwis.
He was contracted to Castleford when he joined Salford in September 2013, but left less than halfway through his four-year deal and also ended a short spell in the Championship with Leigh.
Chase reportedly left the Centurions to to pursue a career outside rugby league and he later spoke of his battle with depression.
He rejoined Castleford last July on a short-term contract.
