Failed HIAs result in Challenge Cup semi-final blows

There were several failed HIAs in Round 19 of Super League action – James Roby, Mark Percival (St Helens), Dean Hadley (Hull KR), Joe Philbin (Warrington), Blake Austin (Leeds), Will Dagger (Wakefield) and Riley Dean (Castleford).

As a result, Roby and Percival will miss Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Leigh due to the 11-day return to play concussion protocol.

Hadley will miss Hull KR’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan on Saturday, also through the mandatory protocol.

Leigh duo miss Salford clash through illness

The Leopards were without hookers Edwin Ipape and Aaron Smith for their 24-22 win over Salford on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Leigh coach Adrian Lam revealed the hooking duo missed the game through a bout of illness, with half-back Joe Mellor being used as a makeshift hooker.

Huddersfield forward set for lengthy spell on sidelines

The 26-year-old suffered a dislocated elbow in their win at Catalans Dragons a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, Fiji captain Kevin Naiqama left the action early in their 34-6 win over Wakefield on Friday night, with Watson confirming afterwards that it was a hamstring precaution.

Warrington injury update

Warrington forward Joe Philbin failed his HIA in their 26-12 defeat at Wigan on Friday night.

Should the 28-year-old pass his return to play concussion protocol, he would be okay to play in Warrington’s next game against Wakefield on Sunday, July 30.

Hull FC picked up a couple of injuries in their 36-18 win over Castleford Tigers on Saturday (Hull Live)

Carlos Tuimavave (hamstring) and Danny Houghton (abdominal) left the action in the first half, with Andre Savelio (knee) departing in the second 40.
