Salford Red Devils signing in line for debut; two huge boosts confirmed for Paul Rowley’s side

New recruit Brad Singleton is in line to make his debut for Salford Red Devils in Sunday’s home clash with St Helens.

The Cumbrian prop joined the Red Devils last week as part of a deal that saw Tyler Dupree head the other way.

Singleton has signed a deal with Salford until the end of the 2025 season, and could make his first appearance on Sunday when they host Super League champions Saints.

Asked if Singleton was available for selection this week, Salford assistant coach Krisnan Inu replied: “Yeah for sure, he’s only had his first training session today so he’s still got weights to do and we’ll see how he is and feels.

“If he’s ready to go, no doubt he’ll have his hand up ready to put his name out there for the game this weekend.

“He’s got the experience to add to our pack. He’s a good player, he’s tough, he knows how to play in the big games and that’s something some of our boys haven’t experienced yet, so he adds value to our middles and how they can prepare or see things and how they can deal with things on and off the field.”

Salford Red Devils boosted by return of key duo

The Red Devils will welcome back Fijian prop King Vuniyayawa and Samoan centre Tim Lafai for this weekend’s clash with Saints.

Vuniyayawa didn’t play in last week’s 42-0 defeat to table toppers Catalans Dragons in the south of France after it was discovered that his visa had expired, whilst Lafai welcomed his fifth child into the world.

“We’re still deciding, I think King is ready to play and that’s the one really, other than that we’re still deciding,” Inu added.

“There’s a few knocks and bruises from last week’s game as well so we’ve still got a few to choose from for this week’s game.

“Tim didn’t play (last week), he just had his fifth child. He had his family to look out for, so family always comes first. He’s ready to go.”

Krisnan Inu on Tyler Dupree departure

England enforcer Dupree has been one of the standout forwards in Super League this season, being sold by Salford to Wigan last week for a club record fee.

On Dupree’s departure, Inu said: “The staff before me, Rowls (Paul Rowley) and Haggs (Kurt Haggerty), did a good job in bringing Tyler up from Champ and helped him in his game and helped him sharpen his tools in what he already had.

“For him to become a rep player and represent his country… So to lose a rep player is obviously gutting.

“The circumstances (are) out of our hands as staff and as a team, it was a hard pill to swallow.”

Asked if they had any plans to recruit before Friday’s transfer deadline, Inu replied: “I didn’t know it was transfer deadline. For myself, thats the suits’ job to do that and we try to do our job in coach who we’ve got in front of us and who is at training.”

The Red Devils host the Saints at the Salford Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 3pm kick-off.
