Giants expecting Dragons to fire

Huddersfield’s Ryan Hinchcliffe says the Giants will pay no attention to Catalans’ recent poor run of form when the team’s meet on Sunday at Magic Weekend.

The Dragons’ Challenge Cup defeat at Hull last weekend was their fourth game without a win, but Hinchcliffe believes they have the ability to cause Huddersfield problems.

“One thing I do know about Catalans having played them a few times is that they’ve got a lot of good individual players,” Hinchcliffe told the club’s official website.

“They’re a good side don’t worry about that, and don’t look too much into their last match in the Challenge Cup at the weekend.

“They’re a quality side and they’ve got quality halves, good strong forwards and quality outside backs, so they’re a quality side across the field.”

Hinchliffe acknowledged that Catalans’ had suffered some selection headaches in recent weeks, but says it’s something every team has to cope with.

“For us it’s just about making sure we worry about ourselves and not what other people think. We just need to get our own back-yard in order and generally we do that, we put in a good performance.

“I think our last two weeks have not been too bad – we played Leeds and won and I thought against Castleford a couple of weeks ago we turned up and did okay and probably should have won that game in the end.

“Cas found a way to beat us and that’s disappointing, but we need to build on that momentum and that mentality we’ve had in the last couple of weeks and if we can do that and have a good preparation then we can come out and play well.”
