Warrington Wolves injury news: Prop sidelined for lengthy spell, winger close to returning
Warrington Wolves prop Joe Bullock will miss the rest of the regular Super League season, interim head coach Gary Chambers has confirmed.
The 30-year-old suffered an ankle injury whilst in action for the club’s reserves almost a fortnight ago, with Chambers now confirming a timeframe of approximately a month.
“Around four weeks I think,” Chambers said when asked about Bullock’s injury in his press conference prior to Saturday’s home clash with Castleford.
“It’s like with anything, it’s how he responds to treatment now. They said around four weeks so that’s what we’re looking at.
“We’re pretty healthy, there’s a couple of bumps and bruises and I’ll check on them tomorrow but I think we should be fine, I think we should be pretty healthy.”
Bullock, who has made 39 appearances for Warrington since arriving from Wigan ahead of last season, could return from the treatment room should they reach the play-offs.
Warrington Wolves interim boss provides the latest on Matty Russell
Scotland international winger Matty Russell has not played since Warrington’s 26-12 defeat at Wigan on July 14.
“He’s had a bit of an AC problem,” Chambers explained.
“We’ve had a couple actually within the group so he’s nearly good to go with that, it’s just about coming right. It’s one of those injuries that just takes a bit of time.”
Russell, who has represented Scotland in the last three World Cups, has played 11 games for Warrington since re-joining the club ahead of this campaign.
Warrington’s run-in for the play-offs
The Wire welcome Castleford to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday, 3pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports.
Warrington currently sit fifth in the Super League table with four games remaining of the regular campaign, sitting just above Salford and Hull KR on points difference.
The Wolves take on Castleford, Salford, St Helens and Huddersfield in their final games of the regular season as they look to make the end of season play-offs.
