Castleford Tigers dealt triple injury blow in first half against Warrington Wolves

Castleford Tigers suffered a triple injury blow in the first half of their clash against Warrington Wolves, leaving them with just one player available on the bench for the rest of the game.

Young prop Sam Hall opened the scoring for the Tigers in the fourth minute but left the action for a head injury assessment 10 minutes later, which he failed, so was unable to return.

And the Tigers suffered a second failed HIA, with forward George Lawler leaving the action midway through the first half at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The return to play concussion protocol means Hall and Lawler will both miss next Friday’s match against Hull FC at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

If Danny Ward’s side were to have another failed HIA in the game, the rules would allow them to introduce 18th man Jason Qareqare to the action.

Castleford’s third injury blow came to new recruit Charbel Tasipale in the latter stages of the first 40, with Sky Sports reporter Jenna Brooks saying that the Lebanon international would sit out the rest of the match with a hamstring injury.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Brooks said: “It gets worse and worse for Castleford, I can tell you George Lawler has just failed his head injury assessment and Charbel Tasipale has a hamstring injury, he will not be back so Castleford have just one sub left. I think Jason Qareqare might need to get warming up, the 18th man.”

Speaking in game, Tigers coach Ward told Sky Sports: “That’s part of the game, it’s unfortunate but it’s an opportunity for some lads out there to get some minutes in and do a shift for the team so we can’t complain about that, it is what it is.”
