Wane: We gave ourselves too much to do
Wigan boss Shaun Wane admitted Hull were deserved winners after his team crashed to their third defeat in a row on Saturday.
The Warriors trailed 26-4 at the break and although they fought back in the second half Hull comfortably held on to secure a 39-26 victory.
Wane said: “They were the best team and good value for the two points. We were miles off and we were too loose and gave too many penalties away.
“We need to get back to good defence. It was a poor and soft start and we gave ourselves too much to do.
“We scored some tries in the second half but it wasn’t enough as we were out-muscled. We had too much defence to do and we have a lot to learn.
“They’re a confident bunch, they’re just tired and low on energy. We tried to look after them this week, but I could tell by the GPS that that were still sore.
“It’s no excuse – Hull were in the same boat and have injuries too.
