Gaskell expects a tough day at the office
Lee Gaskell is anticipating a stern test when Huddersfield take on Wigan on Friday.
The Giants head into the game on the back of a three game winning streak, but with both sides in need of points to secure their places in the top eight Gaskell expects a big battle this weekend.
“It will be a tough game especially if you look at the players that came back for Wigan last week – they’re world class players and they’re world champions for a reason,” he told the club’s official website.
“We know it’s going to be tough, but as long as we turn up with the same effort and commitment as we have been over the past couple of weeks then we won’t be far off.
“They’re a big, strong, physical and skilful side and it’s going to be a tough day at the office, but if we work hard together then there’s no reason why we can’t get the two points.
“We’ve got players that are skilful enough to cause trouble – Danny Brough is one of the best half-backs in the competition, on the edges we have Jerry (Jermaine McGillvary), Leroy (Cudjoe) and Aaron Murphy so we know that we can hurt people.
“We’ve always spoken about maximum effort and we’ve realised how important that is, especially at this time of the season when so many people are injured or carrying knocks.
“It’s all about digging in for each other – it may not be the prettiest game, but as long as we get the two points then we’re not fussed.”
