Knights swoop for Eagle Jordan Cox

Following hot on the heels of landing Hull prop Ross Osborne, York City Knights have moved again on transfer deadline day to boost their forward power by bringing in Jordan Cox on loan from Sheffield Eagles.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Hull KR, making 64 Super League appearances before spending 2016 at Warrington, where he played a further 18 top flight games.

After making nine appearances for Sheffield this year he has joined York in search of more game time.

Cox said: “I’m looking forward to getting out there playing for the club which I made my debut against in 2011 for Hull KR.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to join a club with big ambition and I’ll do everything i can to help the Knights push for promotion.

“My first job is to rip in at training and gain the respect of my fellow players. I’d like to thank Sheffield for giving me the opportunity to go out on loan and wish them all the very best for the season.”

Knights’ head coach James Ford added: “I’m delighted to bring a player of Jordan’s presence to the Knights. He has bags of ability and at only 25, he is still young for a middle.

“With over 80 Super League games under his belt, the exciting thing is he still has the potential to improve. Hopefully we can bring the best out of him at York.

“As soon as we heard he could be available we moved very quickly to get him on board. I’d like to thank Jon (Knights’ owner Jon Flatman) for getting the deal over the line.”
