Allen departs Whitehaven

Whitehaven have confirmed that back-rower Dave Allen has left the club.

Allen, 31, made 27 appearances for Whitehaven last season but has struggled with injury this term.

A club statement said: “We have come to a compromise agreement with Dave Allen.

“The club has delayed making and announcing this agreement until we had explored all medical options to see if Dave could possibly have played this season but his injury was serious and recovery if at all will be a long process for him.

“His passion and pride in playing for Whitehaven has been second to none and we are disappointed his time here has ended in a serious injury.

“We would like to wish Dave all the best for his future.”

Allen played in Super League for Wigan and Widnes, and also represented Ireland in the 2013 World Cup.
