Bracek swoops Swinton awards
Swinton Lions captain Andy Bracek walked away with three trophies from the club’s annual presentation dinner.
The utility-forward won the Coaches Player of the Year, the Players Player of the Year and came second in the Supporters Player of the Year.
Former Wigan Warriors hooker Luke Waterworth picked up two trophies for Try of the Year, which was the match-winner in Swinton’s emphatic Challenge Cup victory over Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium, with the try also being voted for as the Champagne Moment.
Highly-rated winger Mike Butt was the club’s top try-scorer with 15 tries in 29 appearances this season and picked up the Young Player of the Year award for his impressive performances.
Fullback Jack Murphy was voted Player of the Year by the Lions supporters while the departing Shaun Robinson pushed him close.
The Lions avoided the drop due to a relegation-decider in the penultimate game of the Middle 8s.
They beat rivals Oldham Roughyeds 29-6 at Heywood Road, a result which sees Swinton still plying their trade in the Kingstone Press Championship next season.
Former Lions star Chris Atkin, who is now at Hull KR, also attended the presentation evening.
