Allen plays on with Rochdale

Former Widnes and Wigan back-rower Dave Allen has signed for Championship side Rochdale.

Allen, 32, sat out the 2017 campaign with Whitehaven due to injury, and has also played for Oldham and Barrow as well as representing Ireland at international level.

He said: “I had a bit of a bad year last year through injury and I didn’t end up playing at Whitehaven.

“I was going to call it a day then Gary (Middlehurst) asked me to have a chat with Rochdale and it all snowballed from there really.”
