Broncos bring in Saint Fleming
London Broncos have announced the signing of centre Matty Fleming from St Helens.
The 21 year old centre has signed a two year agreement to play at the Broncos until 2020.
Having started at Sale Sharks academy in Rugby Union, Matty turned professional in League, making his St Helens debut, in 2015.
In total Matty made 18 appearances for Saints notching up 7 tries and nearly two hundred tackles in the process.
Most recently Fleming has been on extended loan at Leigh Centurions and made a try scoring debut for the Leythers against Salford Red Devils at the 2017 Dacia Magic Weekend.
Matty said, “I had a really good chat with the Head Coach and everything he said made total sense. London is a club on the up and I really like what they are all about. I believe that I can fit in and play the level of rugby league that is needed for the Broncos to make it back to the top level and that we can bring Super League back to the Capital.”
He continued, “I just want the fans to know how happy I am to be joining London Broncos and to let them also know that I intend to play to the best of my ability and try and help the club back to the highest level of the game.”
Head Coach, Andrew Henderson, said of Matty, ” We identified and signed Matt some time ago when we learnt Adrian Purtell was returning home to take up a coaching opportunity.”
“It was important that we added quality, as good centres are hard to find these days in the current market and with the budgets we work to. I believe we have got a good one here. He is still young but brings Super League experience with him after playing at that level with Saints and Leigh.”
“He is a dynamic player who can put his winger away, beat his man, and has the ability to score tries too. We felt that Matt could bring some really good attributes and qualities to the squad alongside areas that we could help him improve with the coaching staff and environment we have here.”
“Above all else we are not only getting a good player but we are adding a good person to our ranks as well, who is hungry to perform well for the Broncos.”
