Henderson leaves London for Warrington
The London Broncos have today released a statement about Head Coach Andrew Henderson opting to move to Warrington, joining Steve Price at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The statement reads:
It is with regret that London Broncos can announce the departure of Head Coach Andrew Henderson.
Henderson has left by mutual consent with immediate effect, to take on the role of Assistant Head Coach at Warrington Wolves with the process of appointing a new Head Coach to take the club forward already underway.
Former Sheffield Eagles hooker Henderson, joined the club as assistant to Joey Grima in November of 2014 and went on to take over the role of Head Coach in March of 2015 having been appointed caretaker following Grima’s departure.
Henderson has been in charge for 2 full seasons leading the Broncos to the Super 8s Qualifiers on both occasions.
Chairman, David Hughes said, ” I would like to thank Andrew for the hard work he has put in over the past 2 and a half seasons, we are sorry to see him go. Everyone from London Broncos would like to thank him for his hard work, commitment and professional approach during his time at the club.”
Head Coach, Andrew Henderson, said, “This is a sad time for me, leaving a club that has really progressed during my tenure. I would like to thank David Hughes and Jason Loubser for putting their trust in me as Head Coach here and wish the players, coaching staff and fans all the best for the future.”
The statement continued:
Whilst the loss of a head coach is never an easy process to go through, the club would like to reiterate that it continues to build its infrastructure of Scholarship and Academy sides, with more players being promoted to the first team for the 2018 season. The community project also continues to flourish throughout the Borough of Ealing.
Head of Youth Development Rob Powell commented, “The academy has made significant progress over the last few years. We have good systems in place, which is providing players the opportunity to develop through the scholarship and make the progression into under 19s. This has enabled the under 19s to become more competitive again as a team and continued the long standing ethos at the club of producing players good enough to make the step up to first team.”
“We are settled at Trailfinders and the programme has become more embedded, which has been reflected in the successful RFL academy accreditation ratings of recent years.”
“We will continue to fly the flag in providing people in London and the south east a genuine opportunity and aspiration of progression to top level professional rugby league as the club continues to push towards super league.”
