Hock looking for new Super League deal

Former England international Gareth Hock is looking for a new deal in Super League after confirming his exit from Leigh this week.

Hock, 34, has spent the past two seasons with the Centurions but has departed following their relegation to the Championship.

He scored 12 tries in 53 games for Leigh and his absence through injury hampered their survival efforts.

Leigh owner Derek Beaumont said: “He started the campaign in fantastic form until picking up an injury and ultimately that played its part in the way our season ended. 

“Gaz deserves to end his time playing in the Super League after the career he has had and I wish him well in that campaign, as he still has a lot to offer in his no nonsense game. 

“He is more composed these days but hasn’t lost that competitive and aggressive edge so he will be an asset to whoever he joins. I am sure that our fans will wish him well for the future.” 

Hock started his career at Wigan, spent a season on loan at Widnes and has also played in Super League for Salford.

He is just three short of racking up 300 career appearances.

Although his next destination is as yet unclear, speculation has already linked him with all three of his former clubs.
