Centurions sign Patrick after Castleford release
Leigh Centurions have confirmed the signing of another Betfred Super League player as they continue their preparations for the 2018 season.
Larne Patrick has agreed a two-year contract and will join up with Neil Jukes’ squad for the start of pre season training early next month.
The 28-year-old forward has a wealth of experience at the top level of the game and has played 200 games since making his Super League debut with Huddersfield Giants in 2009, scoring 37 tries.
Leigh Centurions Head Coach Neil Jukes said: “Larne is a big, powerful, explosive middle who will really add to the dynamics of the team.
“He comes with a wealth of experience and good values inherited from playing for some elite clubs in Huddersfield, Wigan and Castleford.
“Larne will be a really good asset to us moving forward as we try and achieve our goal of regaining our Super League place.”
Patrick joined the Tigers on loan from Huddersfield Giants during the 2016 season and soon earned himself a three-year Tigers deal, however in 2017 the prop struggled to hold down a spot in the team, making just 7 appearances from the bench.
Confirming his departure from Castleford Tigers their CEO Steve Gill said: “Larne has left the club this week and it’s a decision we have come to together to benefit both the club and the player. Larne has an opportunity to play first team football on a regular basis in the Championship and we wish him well for the next chapter of his career. I’d like to thank Larne for his time with us.”
