Warrington Wolves confirm Sam Kasiano release as former New Zealand & Samoa international departs with immediate effect
Warrington Wolves have confirmed the release of former New Zealand and Samoa international Sam Kasiano with immediate effect.
The prop, 33, joined the Wire ahead of the 2023 season from Catalans Dragons, making 26 appearances in the primrose and blue in last year’s campaign.
Auckland-born Kasiano was contracted until the end of the upcoming 2024 campaign at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, but has been let go early by the Wolves, as confirmed on the club’s website earlier this evening.

A brief club statement reads: “Warrington Wolves can confirm that Sam Kasiano has been released from his playing contract with immediate effect.
“The 33-year-old prop joined the club ahead of the 2023 season and made 26 appearances during last year’s last campaign.
“We would like to thank Sam for his contribution to the Wire and wish him well for the next chapter of his career.”
Freeing up a quota spot, Kasiano’s departure leaves the door open for new Warrington head coach Sam Burgess to bring in another overseas signing.
The Wire have already recruited Papua New Guinea international Rodrick Tai from the PNG Hunters this off-season along with NRL duo Lachlan Fitzgibbon and Zane Musgrove from the Newcastle Knights and St George Illawarra Dragons respectively.
Elsewhere, Burgess’ side have added young gun Wesley Bruines from near neighbours St Helens and secured the return of hooker Brad Dwyer following his stint at Hull FC.
Centre Toby King has also returned from his loan at Wigan Warriors, which saw him crowned a Super League champion as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, while Jordan Crowther‘s signing from Wakefield Trinity was made a permanent one.
The most recent recruit meanwhile was King’s Warriors team-mate Sam Powell, with the Wigan academy product bringing an end to more than 15 years with his hometown club.
