Challenge Cup tie forfeited due to wedding
Valley Cougars have forfeited their Challenge Cup first round tie against Hunslet Parkside due to a player’s wedding.
The Welsh club were due to take on Hunslet on Saturday January 27 but efforts to re-arrange the game were in vain.
A Cougars statement said: “It is with great sadness that we have had to pull out of our Challenge Cup tie against Hunslet Parkside.
“Due to a number of players (being) unavailable due to a player wedding, we were unable to come to an agreement with Hunslet for the tie to be played on Sunday instead of Saturday.
“Despite numerous attempts to arrange the fixture on the Sunday, Hunslet were unable to accommodate us and insisted the game be played on the Saturday.
“This is the first time in the history of the club that we have forfeited a fixture and we will endeavour it to being the last.”
Our Ladbrokes challenge cup tie v Valley cougars on Saturday 27th January 2018 is off as they cannot get a team due to a wedding. We will go through to the next round
