Young Wigan prop joins Workington on loan

Young Wigan prop Caine Barnes has joined League One side Workington on a month-long loan.

Barnes, 18, made seven appearances for Swinton on dual-registration last season and turned out for the Warriors against the Lions and London Skolars in pre-season.

Warriors Head of Youth, Matty Peet, said: “Caine joined us from Seaton in Cumbria and is a proud Workington supporter, we have always been keen to help him achieve his ambition of representing the club and he jumped at the chance.

“We have a great working relationship with Workington and were more than happy to let Caine join them on loan as soon as they made contact.

“Leon Pryce has put a good squad together there and we are sure that this move will only help aid Caine’s development.”
