Gildart wants DW Stadium fortress

Wigan centre Oliver Gildart wants to replicate their 2015 campaign of going unbeaten in the league at the DW Stadium.

The Warriors have won successive home games against Widnes and Wakefield, coming from behind at half-time on both occasions.

They sacrificed a home game for the trip Down Under against Hull FC, a game that they went on to win.

Writing in his blog on the official club website, Gildart said: “We’ve made it two wins from two now at the DW and we are looking to make it a fortress like we did back in 2015.

“We haven’t actually spoke about it but personally I remember when we went unbeaten at home throughout that year and I hope we can do the same this year.”

In 2015, Wigan went unbeaten at home throughout the 30 game Super League season, their 10 losses all coming away from the DW Stadium.

They did lose at home twice – 14-12 to Brisbane in the World Club Series and 16-12 to Hull KR in the Challenge Cup.

That year they went all the way to the Grand Final, losing 22-20 against Leeds at Old Trafford.

Wigan have a trip to Castleford this weekend before welcoming Huddersfield to the DW Stadium next Friday.
