Hull FC star Josh Griffin set for long spell on sidelines

Hull FC centre Josh Griffin could be missing for up to 12 weeks after suffering a PCL injury in their Magic Weekend win over Hull KR.

The 28-year-old limped off the field at St James’ Park on Sunday and did not return.

And scans have revealed that he picked up a posterior cruciate ligament injury within his knee.

On Griffin’s injury, FC coach Lee Radford said: “Josh has done his PCL, the same injury as Marc Sneyd has got, so he’ll be looking at a similar return date towards the back end of the season.

Radford also confirmed that front-rower Scott Taylor will not feature in their clash against Warrington Wolves on Friday.

But the England international is only expected to miss this weekend’s game.

On Taylor’s injury, Radford added: “Scott’s shoulder injury just needs a rest.

“He’s been carrying that knock for a month! He had a jab before the derby on Sunday, but we don’t want it to get any worse, so he should just be missing for one match.

“Obviously with the injuries we’ve had in recent weeks, it certainly isn’t something I wanted to happen.

“We’re doing it really tough at the moment and it won’t get any tougher than Warrington with the numbers we’ve got missing now.”

Griffin’s injury has ruled him out of England selection for the Denver Test, but he could return for the Black and Whites in the Super 8s.
