Alex Foster commits long-term future to Castleford

Alex Foster has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Castleford, keeping him at the Tigers until the end of 2021.

The 24-year-old joined Castleford in 2017 after a successful trial period, having previously played for Leeds Rhinos and London Broncos.

Foster has become a regular in Daryl Powell’s side this season, scoring five tries in 15 Super League appearances.

And the back-rower or centre is delighted to extend his stay at the club.

Foster said: “I’m made up to get this new deal over the line, it’s taken a little bit of time to get it all sorted as we were discussing the number of years that the contract was going to be but I’m pleased to have penned a new three-and-a-half-year deal.

“The decision was never in any doubt. I’ve got nothing but absolute gratitude for the club for what they have done for my career. This is the perfect place for me to be right now.”

Castleford coach Powell is glad to have secured the long-term services of Foster.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted that Alex Foster has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club for the next three years.

“Since he arrived at the Tigers, his attitude has been outstanding.

“He is one of the first names on my team sheet due to his work rate, toughness and defensive ability.

“Alongside this his versatility to play front-row, back-row and centre is very rare. He has been a great acquisition for us and I’m confident he will continue to get better over the period of his contract.”
