Sika Manu extends contract with Hull FC

Sika Manu has signed a new one-year contract extension with Hull FC, keeping him at the KCOM Stadium until the end of the 2019 season. 

The club admitted they fought off competition from both NRL and Super League sides to keep the Tongan international captain for 2019.

Hull FC also recently announced the extension of forward Mark Minichiello, as well as England international Jake Connor on a three-year deal.

The forward first joined the side for the 2016 season from the Penrith Panthers, and was awarded with the Hull FC Player of the Year award the following year.

On the extension, Manu told the club’s official website: “Me and my family are really happy to have secured my future for 2019.

“This club is in a great place at the moment and I believe we’re in a good position to continue our progression over the next few years and get to a Grand Final.

“This city has been great for us. We love it here in Hull – the people are really friendly, particularly the Hull FC supporters. It has definitely played a role in my decision.

Head coach Lee Radford added: “Sika has been phenomenal for us since joining the club in 2016. We fought off some genuine interest from powerhouses in the NRL, so for him to choose to stay here is a big pat on the back for the club.”
