Steve Price: Warrington not clinical enough

Warrington coach Steve Price said his side didn’t take their chances following their draw against Catalans.

The Wolves drew 22-22 against the Dragons at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday.

Warrington are still third and five points above fifth-placed Hull FC, but Price is not happy with just a point.

He said: “I thought it was two points lost. I thought we created enough opportunities to win the game.

“We were just a little bit uncharacteristic on a number of things. The combinations were a little bit off so we have got to be better. I know I have got a group of players who will rectify that.

“I thought we played some really good footy in patches but we released the valve and gave them opportunities with field position and defensively, a couple of tries we conceded in the first half wasn’t us and not our standard.

“We showed a lot of resolve and character in the second half to give ourselves opportunities to win the game but it wasn’t to be.”

Price was disappointed with some of the decisions referee Ben Thaler made in the game and will address the calls with Rugby Football League head of match officials Steve Ganson in the coming days.

He added: “I was frustrated with some calls, especially one in the first half when Gigot passed the ball into Tyrone Roberts as he was rolling away.

“I thought it had been rubbed out of the game a while ago and it’s unsportsmanlike and then they score on the back of that, so that was wholly frustrating.

“Then they get a player having 10 in the bin and we get a penalty against us so that’s something I will take up with the referees’ boss.”

Bryson Goodwin left the field and not return for the Wolves with a knee knock, and Price revealed that they do not know the extent of the injury just yet.
