Steve Gill steps down from Castleford board of directors

Castleford have confirmed that Steve Gill has left the club’s board of directors so he can take up his new role with Keighley.

In March, Gill left his role as chief executive of the Tigers but remained on the club’s board of directors.

But he has recently taken on a new challenge as the general manager of League 1 side Keighley Cougars, and in line with RFL rules, a person cannot be of influence at two rugby league clubs.

As a result, Gill has had to step down from his duties with Castleford’s board of directors in order to commit to his new club.

On Gill’s departure, Castleford chairman Ian Fulton said: “It’s a sad day to see Steve step down from our board and I am extremely grateful for the times we have shared together with this fantastic rugby league club.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Steve well in his new role and it’s great that he will still be involved in our great game, and we hope to see Keighley Cougars grow and flourish under his leadership.

“Steve will now become an honorary life member here at Castleford Tigers and we’ll look forward to seeing him enjoying our matches here at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.”
