Sean O’Loughlin: We’ll have to be at our best against Wakefield
Wigan Warriors captain, Sean O’Loughlin, has outlined the very real danger Wakefield will pose when the two sides meet on Thursday night.
O’Loughlin, 35, helped his side to victory last week against arch rivals St Helens and believes they will have to be at their best again to defeat Wakefield.
“Wakey have knocked some big sides off this year and they’ve showed what they can do when the pressure is off them a little bit.”
“We’ve had some tough results against Wakey and we know their danger.”
With it increasingly likely that Wakefield will miss out on the semi-finals, the Wigan skipper believes they could now pose more of a threat.
“It’s makes it more difficult to preview them. Because that pressure is off them, they can try things”
O’loughlin made his return from injury in their emphatic win over table toppers St Helens.
On being back out on the field, he said:
“It was a really enjoyable game to be part of. I think you could see how much the lads enjoyed it and it was a great one to come back in.”
“The two points are big for us and we still want to secure that second spot and put as much pressure on Saints as possible. It was a really important game and pleasing to get a good win.”
With Wigan in second and their winning run intact, they will now focus all their attention on Wakefield.
The game kicks off at 19:45 tonight at the DW Stadium and is live on Sky Sports Arena.
