Have your say: Which structure should be decided at EGM meeting?
We want to know what you think clubs should decide to vote on about the future league structure at Friday’s Extraordinary General Meeting.
There has been plenty of discussions between fans, clubs, players and journalists this year surrounding the game’s structure and possible change.
The Rugby Football League are holding an Extraordinary General Meeting this Friday and 55 votes will be cast, with 24 from Super League, 24 from the Championship and League 1 and seven from the community game.
We at Love Rugby League HQ have had a lot of tweets with thoughts on what the potentially new structure should be…
Some people suggest that we leave the current structure as it is, so that means the Super 8s and The Qualifiers’ systems will remain in 2019.
Others want the current format scrapped and revert to 12-team divisions for Super League and Championship, with loop fixtures being implemented and then the team who finishes at the top of the Championship to be promoted and Super League’s wooden spoonists to go straight down.
Many people want to see Super League and Championship be 14-team leagues, with the winner of the Championship Grand Final being promoted and the bottom-placed Super League club being relegated.
A few spectators want to see 12-team leagues for Super League and Championship, with loop fixtures being introduced and Championship Grand Final winners being promoted and Super League’s bottom club go down.
And others want to see a 16-team Super League introduced, consisting of full-time teams, with League 1 merging with the part-time Championship sides as a second division.
There seems to be hundreds of different ideas floating around on social media!
We want to know what you think…
