Sheffield announce seven re-signings for 2019

Sheffield have announced that USA star Corey Makelim will remain at the club next season, along with six other players.

Makelim arrived in South Yorkshire midway through the season and USA’s World Cup star will wear the Red and Gold jersey again next year.

Club captain Matt James, Greg Burns, Ryan Millar, Ben Blackmore, Shaun Pick and Oliver Davies have also signed contract extensions for 2019.

Eagles general manager Liam Claffey said: “It’s a high turnover again and it may trouble some but we are retaining a higher number than last year.

“With the deals we have in place, we will have a small turnover and stable squad for the 2020 season.

“Mark (Aston) with assistance from Keith (Senior) and Ged (Corcoran) has worked hard to recruit an exciting squad for next season but also one that will remain as we head into the new stadium in 2020 and form the core of a squad moving forward.”
