Warrington forward George King explains reasons behind his move to Wakefield

Warrington prop George King said his choice to move to Wakefield was because he wanted a change of environment.

The Ireland international will join Trinity ahead of the 2019 season after making 97 appearances for Warrington since making his professional debut back in 2014.

King explained his reasons after Warrington’s defeat to Wigan in the 2018 Super League Grand Final on Saturday.

“Halfway through the season, I felt like I needed a new challenge and a new environment,” King told loverugbyleague.com.

“I spoke with Chris Chester at Wakefield and he told me the vision and dream that the club has and I just wanted to be part of a new environment.

“It is like any day-to-day job, sometimes you just feel like you need to do something new and it came to that stage.

“Me and my family just felt like we needed to move on but I’m sure one day Warrington will go back to Old Trafford and win it.”

King came through the ranks at Warrington alongside brother Toby, and he thinks it will be weird coming up against him for the first time next season.

“It will be really strange playing against Toby,” he added.

“But it will be strange playing against the majority of the Warrington team to be honest. When that time comes, I will look forward to it.”
