Mickael Goudemand signs first professional contract with Catalans

Mickael Goudemand has signed his first ever full-time contract with Catalans.

The France international will remain at the Stade Gilbert Brutus until at least the end of the 2021 campaign after signing a three-year deal.

Goudemand, 22, was named Catalans’ Rookie of the Year for 2018 after originally joining the Dragons’ reserve team in St Esteve XIII Catalan.

He made his first-team debut in the Challenge Cup against Whitehaven and later played in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley, winning his first ever major trophy while still on a part-time wage.

Goudemand said: “I’m very happy to sign my first full time contract with the Catalans Dragons.

“It was my main goal when I joined the club’s reserve team. This season has been magical for me, with my debuts with the Dragons and above all the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.

“I have now got to keep on working hard to become one of the best Super League players in the years to come.”

Catalans coach Steve McNamara said: “Mickael’s first full-time contract is reward for his effort, commitment and desire that he has shown throughout 2018.

“From being a part-time player to playing a significant role in our Wembley victory is a great lesson for all involved with our club.

“We look forward to seeing Mickael continue his improvement in 2019 and beyond.”
