Danny Brough and Scott Grix swap clubs
Wakefield have confirmed the signing of Danny Brough from Huddersfield, with Scott Grix going in the other direction.
Both players are no strangers to their new clubs having played there earlier in their careers.
Brough, 35, has signed a two-year deal to complete some “unsettled business” with Trinity, who have finished fifth in Super League for the past two seasons.
He said: “I am over the moon to go back to where it started, I have had a long and positive chat with Michael Carter and Chris Chester over the past few weeks.
“I have a lot of unsettled business at Wakefield and I owe a lot to the fans after my previous spell at the Club. I am looking forward to the new challenge, it is a new environment with a great set of lads and I cannot wait to knuckle down and get stuck in with the boys.”
The former Scotland international was with Wakefield for two seasons before moving to the Giants in March 2010.
He won the Man of Steel in 2013, also leading Huddersfield to the League Leaders’ Shield.
In his career to date, which has also included spells at York, Hull and Castleford, he has scored more than 3500 points.
Grix, 34, returns to Huddersfield where he played from 2010 to 2016, sandwiched by this two spells at Wakefield.
He will pass the 350 appearance milestone next season and has scored more than 1100 points in a career that started in the lower leagues with Doncaster, Halifax, Leigh and Widnes.
Grix said: “Although I would have been happy to finish my contract as a Trinity player, I have now got an eye on life after rugby. The opportunity to become a coach after playing was the catalyst behind this move and I am very much looking forward to adding some value to a Club I have spent a lot of years at.”
Huddersfield have signed Tom Holmes and Matt Frawley to add to their half-back options, joining Lee Gaskell, Olly Russell and Izaac Farrell.
Grix is only Wakefield’s second loss of the off-season, following Liam Finn’s departure to Newcastle, though he remains with Trinity as a coach.
As well as Brough, Trinity have added Ben Reynolds, as well as forwards George King and Craig Kopczak.
