BARLA has apologised to clubs after a number of entrants were not included in the opening draws of the Youth & Junior Yorkshire Cups in 2018.

It has led to the resignation of the Acting Secretary with the role of permanent Secretary still being advertised on the BARLA website.

In response, they have drafted in Jason Woodman of the Yorkshire Youth & Junior League to assist with the running of this year’s competition.

A statement read: “The BARLA Board of Management have held a meeting regarding the BARLA Youth & Junior Yorkshire Cups following emails from a number of clubs who entered and were not included in the opening draws of their respective age groups.

“At the outset BARLA would like to give its apologies to all the youth and junior clubs who entered the competitions in good faith expecting to be involved in them and say sorry.

“Mistakes have been made by BARLA with clubs not involved in the draw that had sent entry forms in, also there have been mistakes made by some clubs entering incorrect age groups.

“Games have already been played in the opening round which saw winners and losers; as a result there can be no re-draw.

“BARLA have been able to include some teams who missed out into the competition, they have been made aware of who they are.”
