Akauola a doubt for Wolves opener but others on track
Warrington coach Steve Price says Tyrone Roberts is in contention to make his debut in the Super League opener with Leeds, but Sitaleki Akauola is likely to miss out.
Neither featured in the 18-6 win over Salford at the weekend, while Bryson Goodwin and Tom Lineham also sat out through precaution.
Price said: “With it being a friendly it’s more about being on the safe side, if it was a competition game they could have played but being a friendly it’s important we have our best players available for round one.
“We got a few niggles but nothing too serious, it was more to be on the safe side with Ryan Atkins.
“Tyrone will come into contention; we will see how he goes…Sitaleki more than likely won’t be ready for the first game but is getting very close.
“I was pleased with our edges and we threw some reasonable shape at them at times but our execution still needs to get better and we know that but as I said with where we need to be at this time of year I’m quite happy.”
