Albert Vete: Hull KR dealt injury blow to Tonga powerhouse
Hull KR will be without Tonga international prop Albert Vete for up to three weeks after suffering a calf injury in last week’s defeat at Catalans Dragons.
The 29-year-old left the field in Hull KR‘s 18-10 defeat to last year’s Grand Finalists Catalans in the south of France last time out.
Vete will miss this week’s Challenge Cup sixth round tie against Championship club Leigh as well as the following week’s match against Warrington.
The powerhouse front-rower could return for the Hull derby on Good Friday.
Meanwhile, Hull KR assistant coach Stanley Gene confirmed that star full-back Lachlan Coote is back in training.
However, the Scotland international is likely to be rested for Saturday’s game against Leigh.
Gene said: “Lachlan is fit. He’s been training this week but I think Tony might think about giving him a rest.
“I think Dean Hadley probably won’t make the 21 but I think the rest are raring to go.”
Will Dagger and Sam Wood have trained all week after picking up knocks last week.
Stanley Gene: We will show Leigh the respect we deserve
Gene insists the Robins will show Championship side Leigh the respect they deserve on Saturday afternoon.
He added: “They’ll come here in our back yard to try and play hard and get a result as we do.
“We will give them the respect they deserve. But we’ve got to concentrate on how we perform week in, week out and start improving on that.
“They’ve had some good recruitment. I think Nene Macdonald has been one of the star highlights in that division.
“I think a lot of clubs have been looking at him. But we are more focused about our players here and getting them focused on the Leigh game.”
