An Langworthy Reds amateur rugby league player has been banned for life after a sucker punch on a Chorley Panthers player.

Langworthy centre Callum Jones was given a lifetime suspension at Tuesday night’s disciplinary hearing for the North West Men’s League.

Jones was sent off in the North West Men’s League Division 2 Final at Victoria Park in Warrington on October 5 after he sucker punched a Chorley Panthers winger on the side of the head when he wasn’t expecting it.

The incident can be seen in the video at one hour, 15 minutes and 10 seconds.

In addition to the punching charge for which he was dismissed for, Jones was also found guilty of running in and punching an opponent who was off guard.

Jones and Langworthy Reds have the right to appeal within the next two weeks.
