Anderson expecting Giants victory over Widnes despite injuries

Paul Anderson is fully expecting his Huddersfield Giants side to overcome Widnes Vikings despite the Giants injury list when they meet on Sunday.

Anderson’s side are yet to claim their first victory of the 2016 Super League season with defeats to St Helens and Wigan Warriors in the opening two rounds.

The Giants welcome Widnes Vikings in round three at the John Smith’s Stadium and despite having eight first teamers sat on the sidelines, Anderson is fully expecting his Huddersfield side to get off the mark this weekend.

“We may be short on numbers, but I wouldn’t see a win for us at this stage as being a bonus,” Anderson told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

“It wouldn’t be a bonus because I expect us to win the game, it’s as simple as that. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter how old you are, how young you are, how experienced you are or how good you are – the key to success is making sure you’re prepared to give everything you possibly can for the benefit of the team.

“Being committed to that cause makes you hard to beat, as we showed against Wigan the other week. If we’re hard to play against, we’ll be hard to beat and that approach will get us our win this weekend.”
