Forward Andre Savelio has signed a new two-year deal at Hull FC.

Savelio, 26, has made 38 appearances in three seasons at the MKM Stadium.

He said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be staying at Hull for another two years.

“Since I arrived here early in 2019, I’ve been made to feel very welcome by everyone and the club and I feel really settled in Hull.

“We have made a Challenge Cup semi-final and a play-off semi-final in my time here so far, but I feel like we still have a lot more to give, so I’m looking forward to knuckling down and going again next year.”

The New Zealander gained representative honours for Combined Nations All Stars back in June.

He arrived at Hull from Brisbane, having started his career at St Helens and also featuring for Warrington, Castleford (loan) and Rochdale (loan).

Coach Brett Hodgson added: “We’ve seen Andre show his true potential at stages throughout the season, and when he plays well, the team tends to play well.

“He is a talented English forward whose best years are ahead of him. He knows what he needs to work on to improve and find consistency in his game and we’re keen to help him develop over the next couple of years.”

Savelio scored a hat-trick against Leigh back in June, but was sent off in the defeat to Huddersfield in July.

New faces

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the signing of Fiji international hooker Joe Lovodua.

Hodgson said of that signing: “Joe is a player we’ve had an eye on for quite a while, and we’re really pleased to have time tied down for next season.

“To add an international level player is a real positive having ran out for Fiji on numerous occasions; he has some great deception out of dummy-half and brings some speed and awareness to that department – and he’s at a good age with his best years ahead of him.”
