Aston: Eagles are getting what we deserve
Sheffield coach Mark Aston says his team is getting what it deserves as it recovers from another loss.
The Eagle’ poor run of form continued when they were beaten 56-24 at home by London Broncos last week.
Aston said: “The reality is we’re getting what we deserve. We need to be a little bit more disciplined. We’ve spoken about it and worked really, really hard this week on our attitude and mentality because we were guilty of making mistakes and giving away penalties.
“The challenge for us is to be honest and disciplined and if we do that we can start the journey of turning things around. We’ve just got to keep the belief and keep the confidence, which is a challenge when you keep getting beat.
“We’re not dead and buried we just need to find a way to get ourselves back into the mind-set and once we’re back in the mind-set I’m sure we’ll have a very successful second half of the season.”
The Eagles host Dewsbury tonight. The Rams lost 23-14 at Halifax, and despite disruption to the team through injuries, it was a game which coach Glenn Morrison believes they could have won.
“It was a good effort from the boys,” Morrison said.
“Defensively we were solid, but it’s another game that we should have won that’s got away from us.
“Sheffield away is always a tough ask and with the injury crisis we’ve got, we’re not taking anything for granted. Hopefully we’ll get a squad on paper that’s right to play and give it our best shot.”
