He said: “I’m excited for it.
“Obviously with Barrow getting promoted, there’s a big buzz around the place. I’ve seen a few recent signings and know a few already there, the club are putting together a strong team and a team that will challenge.
“I know Ryan Shaw and have played with him at Leigh and have played against Jamie Dallimore a few times. He’s a good half-back.
“I’ve played against Barrow a few times and I know how passionate their fans are. It’s always exciting to have big crowds and it gives you more of a boost to play in front of a big crowd.
“Personally, I just would like to be playing every week and playing my best rugby. I’m 28 this year, so I’d like to think I’m coming into my prime and I can be a big help towards the team in making a play-off spot.”
Raiders recruits
Barrow secured promotion to the Championship by winning the League 1 title.
They have added a number of new signings in recent weeks, including hooker Josh Wood and Oldham back-rower Danny Langtree.
Coach Paul Crarey added: “Sam Brooks is a ball playing front rower, so will fit comfortably in with our systems.
“He comes with a wealth of experience having played at the highest level, including Super League.
“He has been a stand-out forward in the Championship for several years now. Sam will add size and experience to our pack and I look forward to working with him.”
