Barrow appoint Liam Harrison as skipper
Barrow Raiders coach Paul Crarey has appointed Liam Harrison as the club’s skipper for 2015.
Halfback Liam Campbell and hooker Nathan Mossop will be Harrison’s deputies.
Harrison recently signed a new one-year deal at Barrow, ending speculation that he might be on his way out of the club.
“Liam is a natural leader on the field. He has a presence around the place and people look up to him. He was an obvious choice, Crarey told the North West Evening Mail.
“It is important that we build a side around these three players. They conduct themselves really well.
“Mossop is a great talker and so is Campbell, one’s in the forwards and one’s in the backs.
“As a group if we talk about forward play Liam and Nathan are involved in that, and Liam Campbell obviously controls the backs.
“We have put leaders all over the field rather than put all the pressure on Liam, which he has had over the last few years.
“We wanted to take that pressure off him a little bit, so we have got two very close behind him as vice-captains.
“It was an easy decision to make.”
