Batley “don’t know anymore” about Archie Bruce’s death
An investigation has been launched in to the cause of the death of Batley youngster Archie Bruce, found dead in his Toulouse hotel room on Sunday.
Bruce, 20, made his debut for the Bulldogs on Saturday evening, and his family have now flown to the south of France following his death.
Coach Matt Diskin has remained in France, with most of the playing squad returning to England on Sunday night having delayed their return.
Batley director, John Miller, said: “We don’t know any more. All I know is that at 1am he was the happiest kid on the planet and a few hours later he’s no longer with us.
“The first concern obviously was for Archie’s family.
“The second concern was to get the rest of the players back to their family and friends.
“One or two stayed on with the chairman, who is due to come back today, but Matt is staying on to be with Archie’s family.”
