Batley have beaten Dewsbury 28-18 in the Heavy Woollen Derby at Mount Pleasant.

Matt Diskin has claimed his first win as Bulldogs coach after replacing John Kear.

Dewsbury struck first, Toby Adamson crossing early.

Batley responded with a try to Shaun Ainscough. A four-pointer to Gareth Potts gave the Rams a 12-4 lead at half-time.

After the break Dom Brambani was put over by Patch Walker. The Bulldogs then took the lead 16-12 from a try by Wayne Reittie.

They extended the buffer with scores from Joe Chandler and Shaun Squires.

Dewsbury finished the game off with a try from Donald Kudangirana.
