Bennett warns England
Wayne Bennett has warned his England team if they play against Australia like they did against Scotland then they will be thrashed.
England and the Kangaroos meet in London on Sunday.
He said if they repeat their performance in Coventry against the Aussies: “We’ll get beaten by 40 or 50 points”.
Bennett said he won’t be worrying about points difference or margins on the weekend, just focusing on knocking off the Kangaroos.
“It’s a big ask,” he admitted.
“They’re the best team. We’ve got to win the game so you’re not thinking (about points).
“It’s pretty screwed up thinking, to be honest with you. It’s not going to help the players. They’ve got their hands full just trying to beat Australia.”
James Graham is expected to come back into the England 17 after missing the Scotland match with injury.
Bennett believes the intensity and breeding ground of State of Origin is what sets Australia apart fron the rest of the world.
“Australia have always got good players,” he said.
“It’s the best competition in the rugby league world. They’re hardened and born out an Origin series that no one else can replicate anyone in the world.
“And that gives them a great advantage. That’s why Australia is so dominant and has been for so long.”
