Bevan French: Wigan confirm long-awaited return for full-back
Bevan French will make his return from injury against Hull this Thursday, head coach Matt Peet has confirmed.
French, 26, suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in 2021. He returned to Australia in June that year.
He is yet to make an appearance in 2022 since returning to the UK.
The former Parramatta Eels full-back has been back training with the Warriors. He joined the side in their 10-day trip to France earlier this month.
Wigan host Hull this Thursday at the DW Stadium in Super League. French has been named in Wigan’s 21-man squad, and Peet has confirmed that he will feature.
Peet confirms return for Bevan French
Peet said: “He’ll play. I won’t say where, but he’ll play.
“He’s exciting and unpredictable. He has a great talent. We won’t be expecting too much this week. We want him to get back on the field, enjoy his game and compete.
“He’s shown glimpses that he’s ready to come and compete. He’s back amongst the lads and enjoying training.
“Bevan is working hard. This week, I’ll just be happy to see him out there and competing hard.”

Iain Thornley back in squad
Centre Iain Thornley has also been named in the Wigan squad. The 30-year-old sustained an injury in the opening fixture against Hull KR at Craven Park.
“We can’t wait to see him back out there,” said Peet.
“He’s applied himself really well all pre-season and during pre-season. I can’t praise him enough.”
Peet confirms Kai Pearce-Paul injury
However, centre Kai Pearce-Paul looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.
“He’s torn some ligaments,” said Peet. “Scans have confirmed that and we’re just waiting for confirmation whether it needs an operation or not.
“We’re looking at a good few months.”
